I’m learning new terms for the seasons since I’ve been involved in a community garden project. Apparently there’s redbud winter and then dogwood winter and finally blackberry winter. After blackberry winter, it’s safe to leave your plants outside…there’s no more danger of frost.
Seems like we’re in dogwood winter right now. We received a tease of warmer weather, but now it’s cold again and the plants must be covered up. The daffodils have bloomed and gone and the tulips are beautiful. And the dogwood trees in white and pink are gorgeous.
The sign out front is painted, the gardens are mulched, and various flower beds are planted. We’ve had to cut the grass a couple of times. Yet, no matter the season, Reynold, with the help of Mary, makes sure the grounds are beautiful and welcoming.
Yes, like illness and medical crisis, there are days when healing appears to occur rapidly just like the warm spring days. On other days, it appears that there is a setback, just like the spring cold spells. So, it’s important for the rooms, kitchens, living space, and yards to be beautiful…that beauty provides comfort and hope….
